Our friends at Graffiti Research Lab were detained in Beijing over the weekend on charges of "upsetting public order".

Founder James Powderly and co. were detained while planning a Students for a Free Tibet protest using GRL light graffiti technology.

GRL is an urban art collective dedicated to empowering graffiti artists with non-destructive methods of expression. They tag buildings using light not paint.

The Free Tibet Beijing stunt was particularly high profile, given the Chinese government's aversion to public protest. We're still waiting to hear on James' release and arrival home.
